Polish LOT to reintroduce Warsaw-Belgrade flights starting May 8th

Polish air transportation company LOT announced yesterday (April 28, 2009) that it would reintroduce Belgrade-Warsaw flights on May 8th, after 15 years of break.

As the people in the Embassy of Poland explained, LOT will be flying four times a week from Belgrade to Warsaw in the period May 8th-June 9th, while the fifth weekly flight will be introduced on June 10th.

As Vladimir Ognjenović, the Commercial Manager in Serbian air transportation company, pointed out, Polish LOT has signed the “code-share” contract with "Jat Airways", which will enable “Jat” to rent 20% of the seats in the planes.

Ognjenović said that the companies had started negotiations about expansion of cooperation in the near future.

LOT’s Vice President for commercial affairs, Pawel Pudlowski, said that the Polish airliner had decided to reintroduce the flight to Belgrade after performing the careful analysis that had showed that Belgrade was the good opportunity because of its ongoing economic activities.

The Ambassador of Poland to Belgrade, Maciej Szymanski, estimated that the cooperation between Jat and LOT would improve the cooperation between Poland and Serbia, and that the economic relations between the two countries were significantly improved.

LOT will be using airplanes Embraer 145, 170 and 175 for Belgrade-Warsaw flights, which will last for 1 hour and 35 minutes. The airplanes will be taking off from Warsaw’s airport at 11.15 AM, while the departures from the airport in Belgrade will be at 1.45 PM ever Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

LOT transported over 4m passengers last year and registered incomes of about 1.2 billion USD. According to the rerepresentatives of that airliner, LOT’s offer includes flights to 52 destinations in 22 countries, and it also flies to seven destinations in the country.

The Polish air transportation company has the fleet of 52 airplanes – 25 Embraer, 13 Boeing and 14 ATR airplanes. According to the announcements, starting from the end of year 2010, it will be the first European airliner with Boeing 787 dreamliner in its fleet.
