First cupping contest held in Serbia – Israeli representative wins first place

Strauss Adriatic has organized the first cupping contest in Serbia. Representatives of seven Strauss Coffee countries, national winners from Israel, Poland, Ukraine, Germany, Romania, Russia and Serbia, took part in the coffee tasting competition.

It’s interesting to note that the contestants were not experts or professional technologists or tasters, but workers of all profiles in the coffee industry.

The task was to recognize as many cups in as little time, which requires a sensitive palate, but also good senses of smell and sight.

– I’m honored to win this competition. Coffee is not just my job, it’s also my passion – stated the winner, Noga van Elck, the representative of Israel.

Promoting a passion for coffee and a professional approach to it is Strauss Coffee’s priority. The contest was a unique experience for Serbia to learn what cupping is.
