Ten preliminary designs for Music Hall in Nis sent

Ten preliminary designs for the future Music Hall in Nis were sent in response to the call of the Urban Planning Institute, said the city architect of Nis, Nikola Lecic, and the construction deadlines are not yet known, the Juzne Vesti portal believes.

Lecic nevertheless added that he had not yet seen the sent designs and that they should be examined before the end of the week.

The hall should be build in Nemanjica Blvd near the former garage of Nis Express, and the architectural design should be provided soon. The final design will be based on the chosen preliminary design, and the necessary documentation and the building permits are to be obtained afterward.

The music hall, which, according to many artists, as well as the audience, is something Nis truly needs, should have around 2,000 seats and a stage for concerts, plays, opera and many other types of cultural content. As per the public call, the music hall should also feature a congress room with 300 seats, a multifunctional chamber stage with around 100 seats, a storage room for stage equipment, an administrative and technical unit, garages and parking spaces, a press center, and possibly also smaller accommodation capacities.

The construction of the music hall in Nis was announced by Minister of Culture and Information Vladan Vukosavljevic a year ago. He said at the time that the facility should be completed in four to five years.
