Park worth 1m EUR – famous Pančevo’s "Narodna bašta" as one of most beautiful green city oases

Once famous Pančevo’s "Narodna bašta" (People’s garden) is, once again, one of the most beautiful green city oases in Serbia.

Complete reorganization of the park, worth 1m EUR, has been supported by EFG Bank, Italian city of Červija and the province of Ravena, while the major share of funds has been provided from the city budget.

According to the words of Danilo Bjelica, the CEO of Pančevo’s "Zelenilo", which was the contractor, construction of a parking lot, a coffee shop and a fountain is still in the pipeline.

The voluminous works on the arrangement of once famous park where an industrial-agricultural exhibition was held in 1905, for the needs of which 26 pavilions were built at the time, commenced in October 2007.

The area of 10 ha covered with centennial trees has been enlarged by another 4 ha, the lighting system has been installed, the lampposts identical to those from the early 20th century have been refurbished, over 8,000 new seedlings have been planted, a trim-track 1,200 meters long has been built, the music pavilion that was built nearly 50 years ago has been refurbished, three playgrounds for kids have been equipped, and the infrastructure has been completely refurbished.
