Modern digital farm to be built in Doroslovo near Sombor

A modern digital farm is being built in the village of Doroslovo, near Sombor. It is unique in the world in that each sow and each piglet will be under a special feeding regime.

Each compartment, as explained, will feature a digital dispenser through which animals will receive food.

There will be 740 Yorkshire sows at the farm, and around 36 farrowings are expected each week, with an annual production of 500 pigs.

The owners expect to fatten 30,000 pigs in the first year and 130,000 in the next five.

Roland Holo, the farm`s owner, says that he expects meat packing plants to be interested in locally-produced pork and that the imports will drop, especially considering the expansion of the swine fever, preventing the import of pigs and pork meat.
