Dutch company "Pecocar" has asked for cancellation of the contract for rental of land in Zrenjanin’s industrial zone because it has given up realization of the planned investment.
That company, which deals with production of polyesther components for buses, refrigerator trucks and industrial vehicles, is one of the first foreign investments in Zrenjanin. Production commenced in 2006 in rented facilities on the factory grounds of former textile industry Sloga.
The intention was that the unit be moved to industrial zone Bagljaš where "Pecocar" rented a parcel at 2.7 ha on 99 years few years ago.
The investment was based on construction of a factory at 12,000 square meters, and the plan was that the realization of whole investment should comprise three phases and be finished prior to year 2011. It was also supposed to provide jobs for more than 200 people.
The information that "Pecocar" has given up that intention is confirmed by Zoran Kovački, the Head of the Investment Service of City of Zrenjanin.
- We have not received any official letter, but we do have information on the company’s intentions - said Kovački.
