So far, 300 “punto” vehicles produced in Kragujevac – old automobiles for new ones starting from April 15th

- Automobile factory "Zastava" has manufactured total of 300 "punto classic" vehicles to the date – Zoran Bogdanović, the CEO of factory “Zastava Auto”, said today (April 14, 2009).

- The factory was producing between 5 and 10 vehicles a day during the first few days of production, while daily production now amounts to 40 vehicles – said Bogdanović, reminding that the production of "punto" in Kragujevac commenced at the end of March.

The Ministry of Economy of Serbia announced that the exchange of old automobiles for new “punto” vehicles manufactured in Kragujevac, with the discount of 1,000 EUR, would start on April 15th. The retail price of "punto", without discount, ranges between 6,999 and 8,999 EUR, depending on the model.

According to Bogdanović, the Kragujevac-based automobile factory has also produced 800 bodies for that "Fiat’s" model.

He said that "punto" vehicles were being assembled from the parts delivered from Italy, and that the quality of each vehicle was checked in association with the experts from company "Fiat".

About 500 workers of “Zastava” are engaged in production of "punto classic" automobiles.

According to some earlier announcements of the CEO of "Fiat automobili Srbija", Giovanni De Filippis, production of "punta" should be increased to, at least, 2,000 vehicles per month until the end of May at the latest.

The agreement that was signed in Torino by the Government of Serbia and “Fiat” on January 30th anticipates production of minimum 15,000 automobiles in Kragujevac in 2009.
