VESIC: Suburban municipalities to get IDs to attract investors

The City of Belgrade and the Government of Serbia plan to prepare “IDs” of all suburban municipalities in order to attract new investors to those parts of Belgrade, Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic said, as reported by Beoinfo.

Vesic specified on TV Studio B that it is very important for investors to know what the capacities of these suburban municipalities are.

– We will do this with all suburban municipalities, aiming to employ as many people as possible. A change of the Statute of the City of Belgrade is also planned, so that these municipalities would be able to issue permits for facilities of three to five thousand square meters, to perform the legalization of facilities of up to eight hundred square meters and to adopt detailed regulation plans themselves. This is our way of making them capable of adapting to investors more quickly – Vesic said.

He reminded that, thanks to Meita in Obrenovac, around 2,300 people were employed, and when the new factory is completed in May 2019, there will be 3,500 people employed. Bus lines to Barajevo and Lazarevac will be established, so that people from those municipalities could work at the factory, because there is not enough workforce in Obrenovac, Vesic added.

Lazarevac has managed to secure new jobs, primarily for women, thanks to the investment in the former Beko plant premises. In the upcoming period, the focus will be on investors who employ women, Vesic said.
