Building permit for construction of BioSense Institute issued – Tendering for contractor soon
The construction of the BioSense Institute not far from Djacko Igraliste is growing more certain, as the City of Novi Sad has issued a building permit to the Provincial Government of Vojvodina as the investor, 021.rs learns.
The building permit was issued on October 12. It states that the value of the four-floor, 6,000-m2 facility is RSD 860.1 million, that is, slightly over EUR 7 million.
It is not yet known when the construction will begin, as the tendering for the contractor is yet to take place, but it is certain that it will happen in 2019, as the public procurement procedure will take time. This can also be seen from the statements made by Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Mayor Milos Vucevic, who announced investments in Novi Sad in 2019, including the beginning of the construction of the BioSense Institute, apartments for members of the security forces, the continuation of the construction of the Emergency Center and further works on the Science-Technology Park, several days ago at the Presidency of Serbia. Let us also add that, in 2017, state officials mentioned that the BioSense Institute would be completed in 2019, but that it is now more than certain that it will happen in 2020.
The amount of seven million euros to be invested in the construction is only a part of the value of the development of BioSense, as a total of EUR 28 million will be invested in the Institute. Of this amount, EUR 14 million are grants from the EU, whereas the rest is provided by the Republic of Serbia. The Antares project has been approved as part of the Teaming Action call, which is a part of the Horizon 2020 program of the EU, which aims to provide support in creating new centers of excellence in Europe and upgrading new ones. With the realization of this project, BioSense will increase the number of its employees by 150. It currently has around 50 employees.
Let us also remind that the design project was prepared earlier and that the facility is supposed to be located between Djacko Igraliste, the glass greenhouse of the Faculty of Sciences and Suncani Kej. A part of the building will have two floors, the rest up to four floors, and the main entrance will be from Zorana Djindjica Street.
