Government of Serbia and "Univerzijada 2009" signed contract – 100m RSD for sports facilities

The Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Božidar Đelić, and the CEO of company "Univerzijada 2009", Zoran Jovanović, signed the contract yesterday (March 30, 2009) on cooperation with 41 sports facilities in which the 25th Summer Students Games will be organized. The contract anticipates reconstruction and adaptation of sports centers, while the investment amounts to 100m RSD.

The money that has been set aside from the budget of Serbia is intended for adaptation and reconstruction of facilities in Belgrade and outside of the capital city, that is, in Zrenjanin, Smederevo, Inđija and Novi Sad.

- This is a very important step in the organization of the greatest sports event in 2009. The funds are small, but 100m RSD that we will invest in the sports facilities in Serbia is an excellent thing for the future of sport – said Božidar Đelić, the Chairman of the Organizational Committee of Universiade, and added that all facilities would be ready on time.

Snežana Samardžić Marković, the Minister of Youth and Sport, pointed out that the contestants’ impressions of the looks of sports facilities in Serbia would also be very important.

The Director General of company "Univerzijada 2009", Zoran Jovanović, pointed out that the signed contracts included framework for business cooperation within the next three months.
