Serbia seeking to have licenses of foreign builders in Grdelica revoked

The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia has requested through the European Engineers' Chamber for the licenses of foreign engineers who worked on the Slope 2 project in the Grdelica Gorge, which collapsed in August, to be revoked.

Minister Zorana Mihajlovic told Tanjug that “the Ministry has done so not just because it is in line with the law, but also because we want to separate good engineers from those who at one point violated the principles of their profession”.

– Experts in the field will say whether the projects were good or not and what should have been done vs what has been done – the minister said, as reported by Tanjug.

She explains that certain incidents show that there truly are problems.

She reminded that, in line with its competence, the ministry had asked the Court of Honor of the Serbian Chamber of Engineers to look into the situation and to revoke the licenses of 16 engineers who initially worked on Slope 2 if it deems fit.

Mihajlovic noted that the same should be considered when it comes to the engineers who later signed the new project of the slope in Grdelica, which was then redrawn several times.
