"For better habits" - "Delta Maxi" introduces use of bio-degradable plastic bags in its retail facilities

Company "Delta Maxi" is the first trade company in Serbia to introduce the use of bio-degradable plastic bags in its retail facilities "Tempo", "Maxi" and "Mini Maxi" for the sake of preservation of environment. This project, promoted under slogan "For better habits", represents a pioneer undertaking in our country, and its realization preceded introduction of the law that should regulate that domain of business.

"Delta Maxi" started realization of this project last summer. According to the words of Radenko Kerkez, the Project Chief, the cooperation was established with English company "Symphony Environmental" and six local manufacturers of bags, which are the suppliers of "Delta Maxi".

- The most significant innovation in production of bio-degradable bags concerns the addition of additive D2W whose manufacturer is company "Symphony Environmental". This additive changes the features of regular plastic and makes it bio-degradable. These bags can degrade 100 times faster than the regular bags, and the final products of decay are environment-friendly molecules, that is, carbon-dioxide, water, and even humus. The life of the bags is four years – Kerkez explained.
