TESS has discovered a “super-Earth” and a “warm Earth” in solar systems at least 49 light years away. Its mission will take two years and cost USD 337 million and it aims to expand the knowledge of the so-called exoplanets which revolve around remote stars.
The discovered planets are too warm for life.
TESS should succeed the famous Kepler, which discovered many of the 3,700 known exoplanets.
NASA expects TESS to discover many of the heretofore unknown worlds, of which hundreds might be comparable to Earth in size.
