Announcement of tender for elaboration of justification study and general project for construction of Timisoara-Novi Sad-Ruma road

The Capital Investments Fund of Vojvodina has announced the
tender today (March 23, 2009) for elaboration of the justification study and
the general project for construction of Timisoara-Novi Sad-Ruma road.
According to the ad in newspaper "Politika", the tender will be open
for 30 days from the day of its publishing in the Official Bulletin.
That is the second public invitation for elaboration of the justification study
and the general project for Timisoara-Novi Sad-Ruma road. The first tender was
announced in January 2009, but it was cancelled after 30 days because the bids
were incomplete.
The project for construction of main route from Timisoara, via Serbian-Romanian
border crossing Međa, Zrenjanin, Novi Sad and a tunnel through Fruška Gora, to
Ruma and Zagreb-Belgrade highway was announced last autumn by Provincial Prime
Minister Bojan Pajtić.
According to the estimates of the Executive Council, construction of that
national road would help Vojvodina become more significant part of European
road network, and it would also enable development of economy sector and road
network.
That route would connect Corridor 4, which goes through Romania, and Pan European Corridor 10, which goes through Serbia. In that way, the traffic from northwest Europe towards the south of the continent would be moved to the corridor that passes through Serbia.
