Belgian "Elektrawinds" and "Kafilerija" to invest 25m EUR in construction of factory for processing of slaughterhouse waste

Belgian company "Electrawinds" and its Serbian
partners will invest 25m EUR in construction of the factory for processing of
slaughterhouse waste in Klenj near Šabac.
According to the plan, the factory should be put in operation in summer 2010,
while the construction will commence within next 30 days.
The CEO of company "Kafilerija" from Klenj, Tamara Drecun, said that
the factory would be built by company "Zelena", which had been
founded in Belgium by "Electrawinds" and the owners of
"Kafilerija".
As she explained, the factory’s capacity will amount to 200,000 tons of animal
waste, and the processed waste will give technical grease that is used for
production of energy and as a fuel for power generators.
She said that, according to current data, Serbia annually produced 280,000 tons
of animal waste, but the estimates were that that quantity was significantly
bigger.
The Minister of Environment Protection, Oliver Dulić, said that the factory
would employ 50 people, while another 250 would be hired to collect
slaughterhouse waste.
The Ambassador of Belgium to Serbia, Deniz de Overe, said that the announced investment was significant because it concerned environment protection, which was very important all over the world, as well as because its realization was going to take place at the time of the crisis.
By the way, the owners of "Kafilerija" are Tamara Drecun, Nebojša Mišić, who is also the owner of marzipan manufacturer "Areks", and Belgians Serž Ame and Tom Jozef Juli Hanson.
