Referential interest rate to remain at 16.5%

The Monetary Board of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) has decided today (March 20, 2009) to keep the referential interest rate at 16.5%.
According to NBS' announcement, the next meeting of the Monetary Board will be held on April 6th.
The Monetary Board of NBS lowered the referential interest rate by 1.25% on January 22nd, 2009, to 16.5%, which was the first reduction after three months.
The referential interest rate was last time increased on November 3rd, 2008, from 15.75% to 17.75%, while its total growth in 2008 amounted to 7%.
