Consultant for treatment of Lake Palic selected

Posch and Partners has been selected as the consultant at the project of the treatment of Lake Palic, which was one of the requirements for the realization of a project worth EUR 6.5 million secured by the German government.

The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, in cooperation with the German Development Bank KfW, signed an agreement with the professional consultant last week, with whose supervision and instructions, following a report to be submitted within two months, the tendering for the procurement of works on the construction of the sewerage in Palic, a pumping station and the discharge pipeline will be able to begin.

The information was published on the official site of the Town of Subotica following a meeting of the participants of the project of the Protection of Biodiversity and Waters of Lake Palic and Lake Ludas, held without the presence of the media.

The report reminds that, in addition to the said works, preparatory activities for the construction of a protective ring around Lake Palic and Lake Ludas, as well as activities related to biomanipulation, will begin as well.

The aim of the project of the Protection of Biodiversity and Waters of Lake Palic and Lake Ludas, for which the German government has provided a grant, is to improve the water quality at Lake Palic and Lake Ludas, as a requirement for the creation of better conditions for the preserving of biological diversity and the potential for the development of tourism in this area.

– The Town of Subotica has fulfilled all the requirements necessary for the implementation of the project to begin and the financing agreement was signed between KfW, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, the Town of Subotica, the PE Palic Ludas and the PUE Vodovod i Kanalizacija. The financing agreement entails the donation of EUR 6.5 million – says the report published on the town's official website.
