Last week, the chiefs of the world’s largest manufacturers of automobile parts (Fiat’s suppliers) and local representatives of the industry of automobile components gathered far from the eyes of the public, in Belgrade’s hotel "Hyatt". The aim of these "secret negotiations" was to help the world-famous manufacturers of car parts ("Magneti Marelli", "Magna", "Sigit", "Delfi", "Denso"), which work for "Fiat", find the companies in Serbia in whose factory halls they could move part of their production.
In order to cut the expenses, "Fiat" asks from its suppliers to move part of their production to our country. It has not been specified if some of the world companies from the industry of automobile parts is going to buy one of our factories.
One of the reasons why this meeting was kept secret is the fact that Italian manufacturers of car parts did not want their trade unions to find out that they intend to move part of the production to Serbia.
As "Novac" finds out, good contact, which could later grow into cooperation, has been established between "Tigar-technical tires” and "Sigit", which deals with production of rubber parts for automobiles.
As Vlada Tomić, the Adviser in the Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA), explained for “Novac”, the manufacturers of car parts seek companies to relocate their production to.
