"Bambi-Banat" announced new investments – 3m EUR in 2009

Confectionery company "Bambi-Banat" announced that it did not intend to dismiss employees and that it would invest 3m EUR in the business in 2009.

The Director General of that company, Miroslav Miletić, told Beta agency that the major share of those funds would be spent on refurbishment of the production equipment and procurement of tools for production of new products, as well as on continuation of improvement of working conditions, which is something that "Bambi-Banat" especially takes care of.

According to his words, "Bambi-Banat" currently has 1,200 employees and it does not intend to dismiss any of them. On the contrary, the company wants to increase the number of workers by hiring 200-300 people during the season for temporary and occasional works.

Miletić said that "Bambi-Banat", which is a part of "Danube foods" group of investment fund "Salford", had invested more than 10m EUR in the company and that about 23,000 tons of products had been produced in "Bambi" factories in Požarevac, Braničevo and Vršac in 2008.

As he explained, that is about 15% less than in 2007, and he added that the reduction of production was part of the business strategy because the restructuring of production portfolio was in the pipeline, but the sales incomes were larger than in 2007.

- The value of the sales amounted to about 6 billion RSD – said Miletić and added that the growth of sales incomes was also expected in 2009.

According to his words, the commencement of export to the markets of former Russian Federation, as well as the growth of export to Russia, was in the pipeline.

- Company "Bambi-Banat" has the same budget for year 2009 as it had in 2008 – said Miletić.
