EPS approved of revitalization of Hydroelectric Power Plant "Đerdap 1" – commencement of works in September

The Administrative Board of the Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS) has approved of the revitalization of six generators in Hydroelectric Power Plant "Đerdap 1", which should start in September 2009, at the price of 167,760,000 USD.

It is pointed out in EPS’ announcement that the revitalization of six hydro-generators in "Đerdap 1", which anticipates increasing of maximum power of each of the generators from 174 to 201 MW, as well as increasing of the power of four main transformers, including the auxiliary systems, will be carried in the period 2009 - 2015.

The value of the works that will be carried out by Russian company "Silovye machini" is 139.8m USD, while 27.96m USD worth of works will be carried out Hydroelectric Power Plant "Đerdap" itself.

It is added that 100,511,390 USD will be paid for the clearing debt in accordance with the Interstate agreement that was signed between Serbia and Russia on April 27, 2007. The remaining amount of 67,248,610 USD will be paid from the budget of "Đerdap", as the investor, and these funds will be set aside by the programme for financing of contractual works.

An integral part of this decision of the Administrative Board of EPS, made on March 11th, is the Contract for revitalization of hydro-generators with the increasing of the installed power for Hydroelectric Power Plant "Đerdap 1" which was signed on March 29, 2003, as well as seven former supplements.

- The Administrative Board of EPS has now approved of signing of the latest supplement no. 8, which defines the total value of works and offer solutions to all disputable issues – it is explained in the announcement.
