The Russian arms producer Kalashnikov has presented its electric car, claiming it can rival Elon Musk's Tesla.

The company, known for AK-47, launched the prototype of the retro, light-blue CV-1 at a Moscow military expo

The design is based on a 1970s Soviet hatchback.

The company boasts about having developed some high-tech elements for its “electric supercar”, including a “revolutionary” inverter. The vehicle can travel 350 km on a single charge, N1 reports.

They also say that “the technology will allow us to stand in line with the world's electric car manufacturers, like Tesla, and compete with them”.

Kalashnikov has been trying to expand its brand for years. Recently they introduced their fashion line, umbrellas and mobile phones to the market.
