The Flight Control Agency of Serbia and Montenegro has signed about 30m EUR
worth of contract today (March 9, 2009) on procurement of the air traffic control
system from French company "Thales".

by EBRD and the Agency, and the contract has been signed by the President of
the Administrative Board of the Agency, Nikola Stankov, and the Sales Manager of
company "Thales Air Systems", Fransin Lagaš.
Following the signing of the contract, the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Božidar
Đelić, said that Serbia and Montenegro had finally entered the European flight
control system.
- The contract is important because it creates conditions for forming of unique European sky – said Đelić and added that, as soon as the Open Sky Agreement was ratified and Serbia and Montenegro entered the white Schengen list, the preconditions would be created for the citizens to travel more frequently and for less money.
The President of the Administrative Board of the Flight Control Agency, Nikola Stankov, said that the contract anticipated procurement of the data processing system, radio-navigation instruments, telecommunication equipment and radars.
As he explained, the procurement will make it possible for the Agency to finish modernization, of which completion is expected in the first quarter of year 2011.
The Minister of Transportation, Navigation and Telecommunications of Montenegro, Andrija Lompar, said that the Government of Montenegro would provide all necessary support in order for the Flight Control Agency to become the leader in Europe.
