No bidders for Jagodina’s Cable Industry – no buyer after third tender

The Cable Industry in Jagodina has not obtained the new owner after the third tender because nobody has submitted the written request for purchase of the tender dossier.

The tender for sale of 99.35% of public capital in "Cables", the largest manufacturer of cables and cable equipment in the Balkans, at the price of 56.6m EUR in six annual installments was announced at the end of December.

The deadline for submission of written requests for purchase of the tender dossier was February 27th, while the deadline for submission of bids for procurement is March 20th.

- We expect that the Tender Commission will declare the tender unsuccessful next week, and that the new one will be announced with the starting price that will be 51% lower than now – said Dragan Rajić, the President of the Independent Trade Union of this company.

- In case the new price of about 29m EUR fails to attract potential buyers, the trade union and the management will ask for nationalization of the Cable Industry because it is the company of national interest, the largest exporter in Šumadija and Pomoravlje in 2008, and it employs 2,860 workers – Rajić pointed out.

He added that the meeting with the representatives of the Government and the Privatization Agency would be held the next week, and that all the details of the future destiny of Cable Industry "Jagodina" would be specified on that occasion.
