Red Star Belgrade to prepare stadium reconstruction project using own funds – Removal of running track not certain

Red Star Belgrade football club will finance the preparation of the project of the reconstruction of the Rajko Mitic Stadium using its own funds, it has been confirmed for our portal.

The club says that they hope for a favorable offer. As they say, they can't specify the tempo of the preparation of the project documentation, as they rely on their own funds.

They deny the allegations made in certain media that the project entails the removal of the running track.

– The athletic club is part of our family. The planners will be free to decide whether to include the running track in their projects or not – they add.

The contests ends on August 7.

Let us remind that the architectural company GeoInka Belgrade prepared a project for the reconstruction of the western stand of the stadium last year, but the plan has not yet been implemented.

This project also envisages a new facade on the exterior of the stand, dominated by the white color, but also featuring red, which will change the look of the western stand entirely. The plan also includes new armchair-like seats on one section of the western stand. This would lead to the lowering of the stand's capacity by around 30%.

The Director General of Red Star Belgrade, Zvezdan Terzic, announced last year that the club would invest EUR 5.5 million in infrastructure.
