LJAJIC: Law on Tourism to be put before Government in August, policy for agencies to range from 300,000 to 500,000 euros

Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of Serbia Rasim Ljajic stated today that he hoped that the new Law on Tourism would be adopted by the Government in August. Talking about the new features in the law, he stated for Radio Belgrade 1 that the terms of registration and operation of travel agencies would be made stricter and that the insurance policy amount would be increased.

– We are dividing agencies into three groups. The policy for the biggest ones will amount to EUR 500,000, smaller ones will pay 400,000, and the smallest ones will pay 300,000 – Ljajic said.

Among other things, he announced that the new Law on Tourism implemented the so-called black and white lists of travel agencies, allowing travelers to know what kind of an agency they are dealing with when paying for travel arrangements.

– Travelers themselves need to take a part of the responsibility, as there have been numerous situations where natural persons, especially in schools, have organized summer school trips – Ljajic added.
