Zumtobel starts serial production at Nis factory

Only a year after the beginning of the construction of the factory in Nis, Austria's Zumtobel Group started the serial production of lighting components in mid-July, whereas the production of lamps is planned for late August, the company announced yesterday.

Since the laying of the foundation stone for the new factory in July 2017, the construction works have been going according to schedule and great progress has been made, Zumtobel says and adds that, as announced earlier, the opening of the factory is planned for late September 2018.

– The new factory of Zumtobel Group in Nis plays a key role in the company's road to the future and success. Our new production facility is an important addition to the group's existing production network, allowing us to supply our main European market and deliver the services our clients need – says Alfred Felder, CEO of Zumtobel Group.

By the time the work are finished, in September 2018, the Zumtobel factory in Serbia will have around 350 permanent employees. The Austrian company has prepared a long-term plan for investments in Nis, entailing a gradual increase in the local workforce in the next three to five years.

In the long term, the new production facility in Nis will provide the capacity for 1,100 employees on indirectly corporate and direct production jobs.
