Company "U.S Steel Srbija" received automobile industry standard certificate ISO/TS 16949:2002

Company "U.S. Steel Serbia" announced on February 20th that it had received the automobile industry standard certificate ISO/TS 16949:2002.

According to the announcement, the standard issued by Swiss certification company SGS should make it possible for "U.S. Steel Serbia" to take the role of “serious manufacturer” of sheet metal for automobile industry.

- The purpose of certification according to ISO/TS standards for automobile industry is the development of the quality management system that enables constant improvements, prevention of flaws, and reduction of losses in the delivery chain – said the Director General of SGS for Serbia and Montenegro, Marinko Ukropina.

At the certificate awarding ceremony, the Production Manager of "U.S. Steel Srbija", Vladan Mihailović, said that "U.S. Steel Srbija" had started the process of introduction of that standard at the beginning of year 2007 at the request of the buyer – Romanian company "Dacia".

- It is very important for us to enter the world of suppliers of raw materials for automobile industry. That means that we will have the new tasks, and that we will have to meet higher standards when it comes to quality of products, fulfillment of special requests of the users, as well as reliability and accuracy of delivery – said he.

The Quality Manager in the Smederevo-based company, Brian McGregor, has expressed belief that the sheet metal of "U.S. Steel Serbia" for automobile industry will find the buyers in neighboring countries.

- We’ve met only one of the requests with the certification, and that is – to get the place on the list of manufacturers of materials for automobile industry. We now need to organize that production and to improve our operations in that area – said he.
