Commencement of preparations for construction of port on the Sava river in Šabac

City of Šabac and Port of Vienna have started design of the study for construction of a port on the Sava river in that city.

- The project worth about 200,000 EUR will be equally financed by local self-government and foreign partner – the people from company Free Zone Šabac told Beta.

- The study will show if the construction of the port is justified, and it will be completed by the end of the year. My opinion is that the study will show how much this region needs the port – said Nikola Bjelan, the Manager of the Zone.

He explained that the cooperation with the Viennese port had been established because of the similar ownership structure, and he said that that port would be the strategic partner of the port in Šabac.

According to the estimates, the construction of the port would cost about 10m EUR.
