At the beginning of October, Zastava’s model of automobile "koral" should "pass" the last test before export to the markets of European countries. Final testing of resistance of “koral” to side impact is scheduled for October 4 and it will take place in Institute RIF in Prague. If it passes that test, "koral" will meet all requirements regulated by standard "euro 3", which relates to level of emmission of noises, gases, traffic safety and others. During the former tests, "koral" met 33 requirements.
If “koral" passes the test of resistance to side impact, it will fulfill allmost all norms regulated by standards "euro 4", which will be put in effect in Europe on January 1, 2006. Since the standards "euro 4" do not require some bigger changes on the vehicle, but regulate even smaller emmission of harmful gases, that requirement will be met by “Zastava” next year through equipping of “koral” with the new generation of ecological engines. “Zastava” already negotiates with Peugeot and some other European automobile companies on procurement of "euro 4" engines.
