Ministry of Agriculture resumes negotiations with tobacco manufacturers about model of aid to production in 2009

The Ministry of Agriculture has announced today (February 10, 2009) that it is going to resume negotiations with tobacco manufacturers about the model of aid to tobacco production in 2009.

According to the announcement, Minister Saša Dragin had the fourth meeting with the President of the Assembly of the Association of Tobacco Manufacturers, Milorad Antonić, yesterday, but the people from the Ministry were unable to present the details of the meeting because of the agreement with the manufacturers.

The Ministry of Agriculture announced at the beginning of year 2009 that the state would not support production of tobacco through allotment of premiums, which was not received well by the manufacturers who are of the opinion that such decision endangers their existence.

That is the reason why the meetings are organized, and the Ministry of Agriculture will try to meet the demands of the tobacco manufacturers and to help this year's tobacco production.
