The Ministry of the National Investment Plan (NIP) announced
today (February 10, 2009) that, due to shortage of funds in the budget, the
money from NIP in 2009 would be mainly invested in the projects for
construction of public utility, transportation and energy infrastructure.
It is specified in the announcement that, due to 2.5 times smaller budget for
NIP than in 2008, only the works on “Corridor 10” and investments in the industrial
zone in Kragujevac will be resumed, but it is not stated how much money will be
set aside from NIP for that purpose.
The Ministry of NIP has finished the consultations today with the authorized ministries and the representatives of local self-governments on making of the list of projects for year 2009, which should be forwarded to the Government of Serbia soon.
- Since the budget for NIP’s projects was reduced, we had to organize another series of consultations with the project designers – said Minister Verica Kalanović.
- In that way, the list of priorities that we made last year has been reduced to the list of the projects that are estimated as the most necessary for satisfaction of people’s needs, and their implementation is going to be either completed or resumed in 2009 – said Minister Kalanović.
