Company "Ball Packaging Europe Beograd" has
announced today (February 5, 2009) that it plans to have the unit for production
of tin can covers, worth about 25m EUR, built in Serbia in 2010.
The Project Manager of "Ball Packaging Europe Beograd", Anthony
Barnett, said that the unit would be built within the existing factory and that
the preparations were in progress. He also added that the realization of that
investment would depend on the global financial crisis and demand in the market.
As he explained, the plan is that about 60 new people get jobs, while the production capacity should range between 1.5 and 2.25 billion units a year.
The CEO of factory "Ball Packaging Europe Beograd", David Banjai, said that that factory had produced 750m tin cans in 2008, and that all capacities had been employed. He also said that 70% of products had been exported.
He said that the company planned to increase sales in 2009 in spite of the global financial crisis, but he could not specify the amount of that growth.
