Dimitrovgrad West interchange opens for traffic – Value of works RSD 132 million

The traffic route connecting one of the central streets in Dimitrovgrad with the highway to Bulgaria (E80) opened for all vehicles on July 3, the PE Corridors of Serbia announced.

As they remind, the completion of the Dimitrovgrad West interchange was promised during the recent meeting between Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlovic.

The construction was initiated at the request of the Ministry of Dimitrovgrad, with previous consent of the World Bank, for a direct western connection through the town's business zone (Beles), along with the built eastern interchange Gradina, near the customs terminal, providing citizens with a direct connection to the highway.

The project says that this is a two-way traffic route of 942 m and a 90-m bridge across the river Nisava.

Legs from Dimitrovgrad, on the highway, in the direction of Nis, and from Nis to Dimitrovgrad have been constructed. The traffic route passes through the area of the future business zone Beles and fits entirely with the planned traffic routes in this business zone.

After the paving, the installation of curbs and batters, the electrical works on the public lighting, the installation of the traffic signalization, the works on the drainage and the application of humus on the batters, the Dimitrovgrad West interchange is ready for traffic.

The works are worth nearly RSD 132 million, the press release says.
