Construction of a garage in the centre of the block around Synagogue in Novi Sad is in the pipeline, which is in accord with the concept of the city planning organization of all blocks in Oslobođenja Boulevard, from the Railway Station to the bridge. That will be the solution to the problem with the shortage of garages in the city centre. “That is also the place where a green surface with trees and benches will be introduced”, Aleksandar Jevtić, the CEO of the City Planning Institute, announced after the adoption of the Plan for detailed regulation of that part of the city at yesterday’s (February 4, 2009) meeting of the City Assembly.
In addition, the land-utilization plans that have already been adopted by the board members anticipate relocation of mineral fertilizer factory "Agrohem" and construction of a modern trade center in its place, while the space of former complex "Centroslavija" would be used for construction of new business facilities.
- We are of the opinion that the relocation of factory “Agrohem”, as one of the biggest polluters, and construction of a modern trade center in its place will be of great use to the city. The city has several potentially serious polluters: "Agrohem", shipyard and refinery, but the relocation of the latter two can not be organized yet. When it comes to illegally built facilities on the territory included by Šumice I and II, they are not going to be torn down unless they are not in accord with the land-utilization plan for Šumice - said Jevtić.
