Two-layer DVD+RW discs until end of 2005

The group that launched DVD+ format has started standardization of two-layer rewritable discs and hopes to finish the procedure until the end of the year.

Like the other two-layer discs, new DVD+RW DL media will be able to store 8.5 GB of data. DVD+RW alliance says that it is enough for storing of four-hour video of DVD quality.

The standardization does not mean that the products will be available right away: in such cases, time interval is, usually, several months, so that DVD+RW DL devices can be expected in 2006. (www.mikro.co.yu)
