European Union has allowed sale of genetically modified (GM) rape oil seeds of type GT73 for feeding of cattle in European Union. GT73 is produced by American giant in field of biotechnology Monsanto. Ten-year permit can not be applied to cultivation and human nutrition.
This is the second permit Monsanto obtained in less than one month. At the beginning of August 2005, the Commission allowed import of GM corn products for fodder. EU issued these permits because the members of the Union did not manage to do that. Namely, according to the new regulations, the Commission will make the final decision if 25 members of EU do not agree on GM agricultural cultures.
