Instagram crosses billion users threshold

The photo and video sharing social network Instagram has announced that it has crossed the threshold of one billion users.

– Instagram is now a global community of one billion – said co-founder Kevin Systrom, who reminded that there had been 800 million users in September.

Instagram has thereby joined the club of social networks with over a billion users, among which are Facebook and social online apps WhatsApp and Messenger.

Launched in 2010, Instagram was bought by Facebook for around a billion dollars two years later.
