First auction for securities of Government of Serbia on February 5

- The Government of Serbia will organize the first auction for sale of 2 billion RSD worth of state securities on February 5th - Diana Dragutinović, the Minister of Finance of Serbia, announced yesterday (January 29, 2009).

The Minister said at the press conference after the meeting of the Government that the first issue would be “modest” and that the securities would be due in three months.

In that way, as the Minister of Finance pointed out, the state will provide liquid funds for the budget and, at the same time, it would withdraw the cash and reduce the inflationary pressure.

Dragutinović did not say how big the interest on those securities would be.
