"DIN Philip Morris" not to close factory in Niš

People from "Tobacco Industry Niš Philip Morris" announced today (January 27, 2009) that they were not going to close the factory in Niš.

- The information on alleged closing of the factory in Niš, which has been published by certain media, does not come from the official sources of the company. The news that is not based on the company’s official position may have negative effects on the employees in the company, as well as on broader public – it is stated in the announcement.

It is added in the announcement that the application of adopted amendments to the Law on exciste taxes "may lead to reexamination of the company’s former plans regarding the number of employees and all investments in Serbia".

- Recent announcements of the officials that the effects of disputable amendements will be reexamined, as well as the announcement of the Ministry of Finance that the new changes will be suggested for the Law on excise taxes, are encouraging and they point to the fact that the Government acts in accordance with the basic principles of CEFTA action plan – it is stated in the announcement.
