Initiative for construction of airport in Novi Sad

Siniša Bubnjević, a member of the Novi Sad City Council, said that Novi Sad was currently working on the project for construction of airport for small passenger airplanes and cargo aircrafts.

Bubnjević said in the interview for specialized Romanian magazine "Romanian Business Transportation" that the airport project had been elaborated by "Beogradski aeroinženjering" long time ago, and that the elaboration of the project for the needs of the city had been financed by public company “Poslovni Prostor”.

- The project must be modified because we do not want the airport for large passenger airplanes, but for cargo transportation and small passenger airplanes - said Bubnjević and added that the target airplanes would be able to transport between 40 and 50 passengers.

He added that the City Council had already started the initiative, and that we should “wait and see how much can be done during this mandate".

- I will soon have a meeting with the management of the airport on Čenej and I will hear their opinions about this project – Bubnjević announced.

According to his words, the city is not going to finance construction, but it will seek investors. It is most likely that the future airport will be run by the city of Novi Sad.
