(Gorenje Valjevo) The company Hisense Luxembourg, a member of China's Hisense Group, made a public bid for the takeover of the remaining 67% stake in Slovenia's Gorenje at EUR 12 per share today.
The takeover bid was published in today's issue of the Ljubljana-based daily Delo and is open until June 26, the Slovenian agency STA reports.
Hisense, which already owns a 32.95% stake in Gorenje, announced its intent to purchase the Velenje-based company on May 11.
Gorenje sought a strategic partner in order to support its efforts towards a long-term, sustainable growth and development.
Before Hisense entered Gorenje, the biggest individual owners of the company were the state fund KAD (16.37%), the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group (11.8%), and Panasonic (10.74%).
KAD will not sell its stake, as the national property management strategy does not envisage the sale of Gorenje.
Hisense is one of the biggest world producers of TV sets and house appliances and has production facilities throughout the world, including Europe. According to the data from the company's website, Hisense employs around 75,000 people in more than 20 branches in the world.
