Invitation for takeover of Bijeljina Sugar Plant open until June 15

The bankruptcy supervisor of the Bijeljina Sugar Plant (Fabrika secera), Nebojsa Matic, opened a public invitation for expression of interest in the takeover of the factory.

The recognized liabilities of the bankruptcy debtor towards the creditors amount to BAM 16.2 million (around EUR 8.3 million), and the priority will be given to candidates that offer the largest amount for the settling of these debts and, under equal or approximately equal terms, those candidates that express readiness to revitalize the factory and continue producing.

All local and foreign legal and natural persons that present their credit rating are eligible.

The bid submission deadline is June 15.

Matic told Glas Srpske that three bids had been sent until then and that those were purchasers that had been previously interested in the former giant.

These are Soltist form Turkey, Construction Corporation JSC from Vietnam and Goran Vajkic from Banjaluka. The Turkish company is ready to pay EUR 5.1 million, the Vietnamese are offering EUR 100,000 less, whereas Vajkic offers BAM 6.75 million.

– The sugar plant will no doubt be sold in the next few months, as the bankruptcy proceedings need to end by then. It's hard to project what the final price will be – he said.
