"Lufthansa" in Serbia transported 18% more passengers in 2008 than one year before

German air transportation company "Lufthansa" has announced today (January 13, 2009) that it transported 250,000 passengers from Serbia to Germany and vice versa in 2008, which is 18% more than in 2007.

The Director General of "Lufthansa" for Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro, Merek Kuchta, said that that record result had been achieved thanks to 35 weekly flights from Belgrade to Frankfurt and Munich.

"Lufthansa" explained that it covered 20% of Serbian market and that it was the second in number of transported passengers in Serbia, right behind local airliner "Jat Airways".

The airplanes of companies "Lufthansa" and "Swiss" transported over 70m passengers last year, which is 12.2% more than in 2007. "Swiss" contributed to that result with over 13m transported people.

As German airliner announced, the number of flights was increased by 11% in 2008, reaching total of 830,819.
