Russia and EU signed agreement on monitoring mission

- Russia and European Union have signed the protocol on introduction of control monitoring mission whose task will be to monitor transit of Russian gas through Ukraine – Prime Minister of Russia, Vladimir Putin, announced today (January 10, 2009).

Following the meeting with Czech colleague Mirek Topolanek, Putin said that the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Igor Sečin, and the Head of Gazprom, Aleksej Miler, had signed the document on behalf of Russia, while the Minister of Industry and Trade of Czech Republic, Martin Rižman, had signed it on behalf of EU.

- Ukraine will be informed that the document is signed – said Putin.
