Japanese companies interested in infrastructural projects in Serbia

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic talked yesterday with Ambassador of Japan to Belgrade Junichi Maruyama about projects in the fields of road, rail, water and air transport.

As reported on the website of the Government of Serbia, the possibilities of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of infrastructure and energy efficiency were also discussed at the meeting.

Mihajlovic said that she was pleased that Japan had expressed interest in participating in the realization of infrastructural projects run by the Ministry through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Serbia's goal, she said, is to connect with its neighbors and strengthen the cooperation with all international partners.

– In line with this, I hope that we will sign agreements on cooperation with our Japanese partners in the upcoming period, primarily in the fields of air and water transport, as well as in the field of energy efficiency, considering the great experience that country has – Mihajlovic pointed out.

Also, she added, Serbia is interested in Japanese solutions when it comes to the construction of a subway from the airport to the city.

Maruyama pointed out that Japan was interested in participating in important projects realized by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and proposed a meeting between JICA and the competent ministry, to be held soon.
