Kosovo will work with the EBRD to boost urban renewal, upgrading its municipal and environmental infrastructure and moving towards engagement in the EBRD’s Green Cities Framework.
Up to €50 million – half the total envisaged in this MoU – is reserved to finance the construction of new wastewater treatment plants in the cities of Gnjilan and Mitrovica.
The MoU prioritizes cooperation in areas such as water and wastewater services, solid waste management, district heating, urban transport, including road infrastructure, fleet renewal and street lighting.
Other areas of focus include energy efficiency improvements for public buildings such as schools, hospitals and administrative buildings, and support in the development and implementation of Green City Action Plans.
