On May 1, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Srbija became the 100% owner of the Magneti Marelli plant in Kragujevac, which produces bumpers for Fiat 500l, Beta learns from the trade union of Magneti Marelli.

The trade union says that Magneti Marelli was supposed be integrated into FCA, but that this has been abandoned and that, consequently, there are now negotiations with the employer about a new collective contract.

If the factory had been integrated into FCA, its workers would be subject to the same collective contract as those at the Kragujevac car plant.

The Magneti Marelli trade union earlier told Beta that, during the first talks, the employer had demanded the trade union to waive its legal right to strike while the collective contract is valid and that this had been the company’s requirement for the signing of the document.

The trade union rejected this request, but the negotiations with the employer continued and, as said yesterday, “are going in a positive direction”.

Around a hundred people work at the Magneti Marelli plant in Kragujevac.
