"United Serbian Breweries" invest 50 million euros in business development in Serbia

"United Serbian Breweries" company announced today (December, 23rd, 2008) that in the next three years it would invest 50 million euros in business development in Serbia.

As it was stated in the announcement, this company, founded by merging of "Heineken" and "Effes" breweries, would start in 2009 realization if strategic plan for obtaining leading positions at the Serbian market of beer and for improving its financial results.

Next year will be the first entire year of business for "United Serbian Breweries" as integration of "Heineken" and "Effes" started in June, and was ended in November of 2008.

In the beginning of the next year, the company will get a certificate for ISO 14001 for protection of living environment and people which will help further development of export in cooperation with sister companies of "Heineken Group", especially those in Hungary and in Bulgaria.

"Unites Serbian Breweries" will continue cooperation and distribution of products with exclusive strategic partner, "Coca-Cola Hellenic" company.

"United Serbian Breweries" is 72% in the ownership of "Heineken" and 28% of "Effes". The comapny has two breweries in Serbia, one in Zajecar and the other in Novi Sad.

The company announced in October, that it would reduce production in the breweries in Zajecar and Novi Sad, from 2,1 million hl to 1,5 million hl of beer, per year, after it had closed its "Weifert" brewery in Pancevo.

A multinational company, "Heineken" has finished with taking over of "MB pivara" from Novi Sad, from Rodic brothers, in the February of this year, and "Heineken" and "Effes" got approval for merging their businesses in Serbia in the first half of this year.

Those two companies also merged their businesses on the markets of Kazahstan and Uzbekistan.
