C.E.O. of the Agency for foreign investments and promotion of export of Serbia (SIEPA), Vesna Peric, stated that a German company, involved with manufacture of car parts, intended to open a factory in Prokuplje.
- We are just about to sign Agreement of understanding. They wish to employ 2.000 workers, as Mrs. Peric stated, addint that the Agreement was expected to be signed in the first three months of 2009.
SIEPA's C.E.O. could not discover the name of the German company, but she said that it was involved in manufacture of cables for cars, and that it was supplying Audi, BMW, and other car industries.
According to her words, Germans would invest in Serbia, as they are planning to reduce or close down their production in Romania.
One of the motives for coming to Serbia is encouragement fee given for one working position to investors, which is from 2.000 to 10.000 euros.
1.7 billion dinars is prepared for encouraging employment from the budget of Serbia for 2009.
Peric also said that taxes were law and working power is cheap and qualified, which was an additional motivation for the German company to move its production to Serbia.
