Mahindra interested in fruit from Serbia – Representatives of Indian company to visit Belgrade in May

Representatives of the Indian company Mahindra will visit Belgrade on May 10 and 11 in order to agree on the details of future investments and cooperation with producers from Serbia, Minister of Agriculture Branislav Nedimovic announced yesterday.

– Mahindra has never visited Serbia and has never before shown such interest. I met with representatives of this company for the first time last November, and, once they visit Belgrade, we will know what the concrete plans are – Nedimovic told eKapija.

As he explained for our portal, the Indian company is interested in producing and processing berries and apples, as well as dairy products.

– There are several operations. They are interested in cooperating with subcontractors throughout the country, and there’s also the possibility of them buying a local producer – Nedimovic explained for eKapija and added that all the details will be known after the meeting in May.

The Indian market, Nedimovic said, is open for fruit from Serbia, while, on the other hand, producers from India want to export their citrus fruits to Serbia.

– We are working intensively with the Indian side to open the country’s market for ten Serbian apple producers. We have harmonized the certificates and it only remains for us to solve some issues concerning the trade – Nedimovic said at the presentation of the first Serbian translation of Making it Big, an autobiography of Binod Chaudhary, owner of CG Corp Global, which opened a noodle factory in Ruma in 2017.
